FAQ
Which devices support eSIM? (Compatible phones list, updated October 2026)
Short answer: most phones released since 2018 support eSIM
Most flagship and mid-range phones from the last several years support eSIM, including the iPhone XS and XR and every iPhone since, the Samsung Galaxy S20 and later, Google Pixel 3 and later (with a few regional exceptions), and recent Motorola, OnePlus, Xiaomi, OPPO and Sony models. iPhone Air and iPhone Duo have no physical SIM slot anywhere in the world, and US models of the iPhone 14 and later are eSIM only.
A model name on this list does not guarantee eSIM will work on your specific phone. Where you bought it and which carrier sold it both matter. The quickest way to know for sure is the 30-second check below.
Last updated: October 9, 2026 (added iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone Duo, Pixel 11 series, Galaxy Z Fold8 / Flip8, Xperia 1 VIII and AQUOS R11)
3 requirements to use CORAL eSIM
Your device must meet all three of the following:
- It has an eSIM chip (built-in eSIM support).
- It is carrier-unlocked. A phone locked to AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, or any other carrier cannot install an eSIM from another provider.
- It has not been modified (no iOS jailbreak, no Android root).
CORAL eSIM is a data-only eSIM. On a dual SIM phone you can keep your regular number active for calls and texts while CORAL handles your mobile data abroad, so there are no roaming charges from your home carrier for data.
How to check if your phone supports eSIM (30 seconds)
Method 1: Dial *#06# and look for an EID (works on any phone)
Open the Phone app and dial *#06#. If an EID (a 32-digit number) appears, your phone has an eSIM chip. If you only see IMEI numbers and no EID, your phone either has no eSIM or eSIM has been disabled for the market it was sold in.
Method 2: Check your settings
| Device | Where to look | What you should see |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone | Settings > General > About | An "EID" row |
| iPhone | Settings > Cellular | "Add eSIM" |
| Samsung Galaxy | Settings > Connections > SIM manager | "Add eSIM" |
| Google Pixel | Settings > Network & internet > SIMs | "Add SIM" with an option to download an eSIM |
| Other Android | Settings > Network / Connections > SIM | "Add eSIM" or "Download eSIM" |
| Windows laptop | Settings > Network & internet > Cellular | "eSIM profiles" |
For iPhone, see the step-by-step guide: How to check if your iOS device supports eSIM.
How to check if your phone is unlocked
- iPhone: Go to Settings > General > About. If Carrier Lock (or "SIM Lock") shows "No SIM restrictions", you are good to go.
- Android: The steps vary by manufacturer and carrier. A simple test is to insert a SIM card from a different carrier; if it connects, the phone is unlocked. You can also ask your carrier.
Phones bought on a payment plan in the US are often locked until the device is paid off. Carriers will usually unlock them on request once you meet their unlock policy.

FAQ
Which devices support eSIM?
Most phones released since 2018 support eSIM, including the iPhone XS and XR and later, Samsung Galaxy S20 and later, Google Pixel 3 and later (with a few regional exceptions), and recent Motorola, OnePlus, Xiaomi, OPPO and Sony models. As of October 2026 this includes iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone Duo, the Pixel 11 series and Galaxy Z Fold8 / Flip8. Your device must also be carrier-unlocked and not jailbroken or rooted.
How do I check if my phone supports eSIM?
Open the Phone app and dial *#06#. If an EID (a 32-digit number) appears, your phone has an eSIM chip. On iPhone you can also look for an EID row in Settings > General > About, or an "Add eSIM" option in Settings > Cellular.
My phone is not on the list. Does that mean it won't work?
Not necessarily. This list covers the major models only. Dial *#06#: if an EID appears, your phone has eSIM. If it is also carrier-unlocked, it will most likely work with CORAL eSIM.
My model supports eSIM, but I don't see "Add eSIM". Why?
eSIM may be disabled for the country or carrier your phone was sold in, or the phone may still be carrier-locked. If you bought it from a carrier, ask them to confirm it is unlocked.
Can I use eSIM on a carrier-locked phone?
No. A locked phone can only use eSIMs from the carrier it is locked to. Ask your carrier to unlock it before you travel; this can take a few days.
Will I lose my phone number if I add an eSIM?
No. On a dual SIM phone you keep your existing line (physical SIM or eSIM) and add CORAL eSIM for data. See Turn on data roaming after installation to set CORAL as your data line while traveling.
Does an iPhone bought in China support eSIM?
Only iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, iPhone Duo, iPhone 17e and iPhone Air bought in mainland China support eSIM. Turn on Location Services and add the eSIM after leaving mainland China. These models can store up to two eSIMs.
How many eSIMs can I store on one phone?
It depends on the model. Recent iPhones can store eight or more and use two at the same time (mainland China models store up to two). Most Android phones can store several eSIMs and switch between them.
Can I use CORAL eSIM on a jailbroken or rooted phone?
No. Installation and connection may not work correctly on modified devices.
Your phone is compatible. What's next?
- Choose a plan: eSIMs by country / Regional eSIMs
- Install it: eSIM installation guide
- Turn it on when you land: Turn on data roaming
- Not connecting? eSIM troubleshooting
Please note: Even if your device is listed, eSIM may be disabled depending on the country of purchase or the carrier. Before buying, make sure your phone's settings show an option such as "Add eSIM".
